It's National Food Waste Prevention Week April 7th-13th, 2025

Food Waste Prevention Week is an annual campaign dedicated to raising awareness about the significant impact of food waste on the environment, economy, and global food security. Each year, individuals, households, schools, businesses, and communities come together to learn about the causes and consequences of wasting food—from the resources used to grow, transport, and package it, to the methane emissions it produces in landfills.

Food Waste Prevention Week highlights the value of partnerships and building community in efforts to reduce food waste. It also promotes practical steps such as meal planning, smart shopping, proper food storage, and repurposing leftovers, all aimed at reducing the amount of edible food that ends up in the bin. By encouraging more mindful habits, Food Waste Prevention Week helps foster a culture of sustainability and shared responsibility in tackling one of the world’s most urgent challenges.
